Spielberg's inspiration for the series emerged while directing and producing the World War II film Saving Private Ryan to create a game that can concurrently be an educational and entertaining experience. The game was released for the PlayStation on October 31, 1999. The game was developed by DreamWorks Interactive, when at the time the studio and series were jointly owned by DreamWorks SKG and Microsoft Games, with the game concept and story created by filmmaker Steven Spielberg. The series began in 1999 with Medal of Honor. The music in the franchise was composed by Michael Giacchino, Christopher Lennertz and Ramin Djawadi. The concept, story, and executive production of the first three games was made by Spielberg, who later sold the franchise for Electronic Arts in February 2000. The main characters are usually elite members of Office of Strategic Services (OSS), while later games focus on modern warfare. The first twelve installments take place during World War II.

Medal of Honor spawned a series of follow-up games including multiple expansions spanning various console platforms and personal computers. The first game was developed by DreamWorks Interactive and published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation in 1999. Unfortunately, they're the only marines you'd survive with usually.Medal of Honor is a series of first-person shooter video games created by American film director and producer Steven Spielberg. The dialogue is also fairly alright, your character, Tom Colin with his squad mates nearly all the time (since boot camp actually)and they sure do stand out quite well. Though I admit, fighting in jungles most of the time was a bit of a drag despite being set in the Pacific Theatre. Good thing you don't die automatically too (since there's more wounded than dead in war). You can order your squad mates to advance, provide cover fire, retreat and rally up. PA also contrasts differently to its predecessors.

The game could allow you to use the M1 rifle with a bayonet (very deadly too!) and for historical accuracy, I have no complaints save for the fact that the ship the player was in at the first level was actually badly damaged during the Pearh Harbour attack. All in all, Pacific Assault was one of the best Medal of Honor games I've ever played and perhaps, one of the most realistic of its time.
